The thrill of a BMX

Before you buy a BMX there are just somethings you may want to know about these great bikes. They are perfect for speeding around the streets and at the same time you can use them for biking stunts and off road riding.

BMX are versatile and are enjoyed by people of all ages. They are primarily designed for people whi love the rush of riding off road, performing stunts and riding ramps. They are easy to manoeuvre and not only can be ridden on dirt tracks, and ramps but also on the street.

A BMX frame needs to be made with a light weight metal that is also able to take a large amount of knocks. For instance, the diamondback viper bmx which is made with HI-ten steel and is light weight but also durable. This allows you to perform stunts easily and to use the bike for the popular sport of BMX racing, as you can build up speed quickly.

The distinguishing features of BMX's are, aside from the frame of a BMX being a lot smaller than other bikes they normally only have one gear and the tires are similar to mountain bikes as opposed to conventional road bikes, as they have a deep tread and they are normally around 20inches in diameter. BMXs also only have one brake on the rear of the bike this is to prevent accidents from occurring when only the front brake is used to slow down.

BMX racing and stunt performing is a sport loved by adults and children alike. It's popularity has increased recently with it becoming an Olympic sport in the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

The majority of western cities nowadays have bike ramps and parks designed for BMX bikes. Having a BMX is extremely appealing as this hobby is accessible to everyone, as you can travel around easily, and cheaply and have hours upon hours of excitement practicing tricks and riding your bike.

When you use a BMX you have the option of riding off road and on the streets. You really will have a fantastic time learning to master the stunts that people can perform on these bikes.
