Orlando - The Most Popular Vacation Destination

By John Iseda

A favorite destination for many people is Orlando, Florida, with its many theme parks, it has become 'the' place to visit but there is much more to an Orlando vacation than this. There are also numerous museums, art galleries, visitor's flea markets, wildlife sanctuaries and places of historical interest to see in Orlando. The city has been attracting tourists for a long time and justifiably so as it has just about everything the visitor could want.

If shopping is what you enjoy, you will find places like the Church Street Station a perfect choice. It is a huge amusement and shopping center full of clubs, bars, restaurants and shops.

Sanford's Central Florida Zoological Park is the place to go to for all animal lovers. The zoo was opened in 1975 and takes pride in having over four hundred animals in its collection. It has a charity status and aims at preserving all sorts of exotic animals.

You may have heard of the name Tiffany's but did you know that it was way back in 1942 that the Morse Museum in Winter Park that started displaying the collections of Louis Tiffany. For aficionados of Tiffany art, this is the place to visit with the largest display anywhere in the world, including jewelry, paintings, glass, pottery and ornaments.

While Orlando may appear on the surface to be a town designed for the entertainment of children that could not be farther from the truth with adults equally well looked after. Orlando vacations offer evening entertainment that's no less interesting with family venues such Pirates Adventure, Medieval Feast to more adult themes such as Disney's Downtown Pleasure Island open until the early hours.

The Titanic - Ship of Dreams Exhibition can also be found along International Drive; this is a moving, often eerie depiction of the great Ocean Liner with a tour guide depicting a character from the ship with many original items on display. Away from all the hustle is the wonderful Lake Eola Park in the heart of downtown; it has beautiful sidewalks in over forty acres where it is possible to spend a few peaceful hours.

Obviously, a vacation in Orlando has to include a trip to the Walt Disney World. The four theme parks are definitely going to provide lots of fun for kids and adults alike. For theme park fans Universal Studios can also be considered a must. If you are not the type that loves to spend all the time on a beach, you will certainly enjoy your Orlando vacation, although I recommend going there in the off-season, as it is not as busy as during the peak times of the year.
