Some Quality Major Motion Picture Reviews

The Hi-Lo Country: Tale of 2 men in post-WW2 New Mexico who fall in love with the identical lady and she's already married to someone else. A tribute to the dude way of life and the delights of real kinship, this film has so much going for it (containing Harrelson's wonderful behavior as a hell-raiser and Oliver Stapleton's cinematography) that it's a pity it doesn't hit the bull's-eye and Arquette is so boring. Cast includes Woody Harrelson, Billy Crudup, Patricia Arquette, Sam Elliott, Cole Hauser, Penelope Cruz, Darren Caves, Jacob Vargas, James Gammon, Lane Smith, and Katy Jurado. (114 minutes, 1998)

Hackers: A group of youthful competer specialists is framed for crimes committed by pc whiz and could-be master felon Stevens, and have to use their own computer abilities to demonstrate their innocence. It is quick paced and the lucid directing makes it fun. Cast includes Jonny Lee Miller, Angelina. Jolie, Fisher Stevens, Matthew Lillard, Laurence Mason, Jesse Bradford, Renoly Santiago, Lorraine Bracco, Wendell Perforate, Penn Jillette, Felicity Huffman, and Marc Anthony. (105 minutes, 1995)

Bullet for a Badman: Another reprisal story engaging an outlaw, his ex-spouse, and the man who married her. Cast includes Audie Murphy, Darren McGavin, Ruta Lee, Bypass Homeier, George Tobias, and Bob Steele. (80 minutes, 1964)

Marilyn Hotchkiss' Ballroom Dancing & Charm School: While a current widower assists a dying mishap sufferer it sets in motion a journey to find the poor man's long lost love at a school reunion. This leads to a ballroom dance school and a dull, hokey, excessively sentimentalized tale. Cast includes Robert Carlyle, Marisa Tomei, Sean Astin, John Goodman, Mary Steenburgen, Donnie Walhberg, David Paymer, Camryn Manheim, Adam Arkin, Sonia Braga, and Elden Henson. (103 minutes, 2006)

Me without You: Timid, tender Williams and un-tight, extroverted Friel have been best friends as long as they can remember, however as they come of age their kinship is compromised. Conceivably captivating girl friend film has some strainful minutes, but it doesn't quite gel. Cast includes Anna Friel, Michelle Williams, Oliver Milburn, Trudie Styler, Marianne Denicourt, Steve John Shepherd, Nicky Henson, Allan Corduner, Kyle MacLachlan, and Anna Popplewell. (107 minutes, 2001)

The Bellboy: Entertaining succession of blackouts with Jerry as a bellboy at Fontainebleau in Miami Shore. No structure although a lot of ludicrous gags. Milton Berle and Walter Winchell have visitor appearances. This was JerryLewis's directorial debut. Cast includes Jerry Lewis, Alex Gerry, Bob Clayton, and Sonny Sands. (120 minutes, 1960)

The House of Yes: On a stormy day in 1983, a youthful gentleman brings his fiancee home to meet his broken Washington, D.C, family, containing his demented twin sis, Jackie-O, whose fantasies in Jacqueline Kennedy have lengthened to the point ofreinacting the JFK assassination-with live bullets. Well made black comedy, based on the stage production by Wendy MacLeod. Cast includes Parker Posey, Josh Harnilton, Tori Spelling, Freddie Prinze, Jr., Genevieve Bujold, and Rachael Leigh Cook. (90 minutes, 1997)

La Prisonuiere: From the head of Diabolique comes this ambiguous, bewildered study of afemale addicted to a photographer of sadomasochism. This film is truly a remarkably piece of art. Cast includes Laurent Terzieff, Bernard Fresson, Elsabeth Wiener, Dany Carrel, Dario Moreno, and Daniel Riviere. (104 minutes, 1959)

Alias Jesse James: One of Wish's funniest has him an inusurance sales associate out West, incorrect for a sharpshooter. Fleming is a pleasant Western belle, and the 2 do a cute melody together. Cast includes Bob Wish, Rhonda Fleming, Wendell Corey, Jim Davis, and Gloria Talbott. (92 minutes, 1959)
